Description

Portas is a composition for tenor trombone and wind band written to honor the memory of Daniel Portas, principal trombonist of the Banda de Santiago, conductor, and pedagogue. The tenor trombone version is dedicated to Joseph Alessi, principal trombone of the New York Philharmonic. The original bass trombone version was premiered at the tenth edition of the Numskull Brass Festival Caudete (2024) in its orchestral version, performed by the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia, conducted by Ricardo Mollá with Martin Schippers, tenor and bass trombone of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, as soloist.
