Description
In Pursuit of Light is a work for tenor trombone and piano by Ricardo Mollá, developed from a central theme of his concerto Awakening. The piece is inspired by José Saramago’s novel Blindness, using music as a vehicle to reflect on the human condition. It raises a question that transcends sound itself: what is the true purpose that guides our existence? The metaphor of blindness becomes not only a physical limitation, but also a symbol of the inner barriers that prevent us from perceiving what is essential in life. Through its lyrical narrative, the composition invites us to rediscover clarity, light, and meaning amidst uncertainty.
This version for trombone and piano is dedicated to Rubén Toribio, Principal Trombone of the Orchestra of Valencia, and Cristina Cámara, Professor of Piano at the Conservatorio Superior de Música of Alicante.
